Wednesday
Because I'm only at ICASI for 3 weeks, my fourth week I am cooking a dinner (anyone is invited) for my final presentation. I had already come up with the meal, but I needed some practice preparing it. So on Wednesday, Chef Mark taught me how to cook my meal, and showed me some easy ways to make it all. My meal for my final project will be lasagna with garlic bread, a salad with homemade italian dressing, and brownies for desert. First, Mark showed me how to make the brownies from scratch. I thought it would be difficult, but it only took 10 minutes to gather the ingredients, put them in a pot, mix them, and spread it into a pan. While the brownies were cooking, we started on the lasagna. First came the sauce, which is pretty easy to make. Its just chopped onions, chopped garlic, ground beef, and tomato paste. Next was the ricotta cheese filling, which was just ricotta cheese, salt, pepper, and some parmesan and mozzarella. Then came the noodles, which we just boiled in water. Once everything was ready, we put it all together, and that was the lasagna. Garlic bread was no challenge, and the dressing was made in 5 minutes. The meal took roughly two hours to make, and once it was ready, everybody tried some. It was a great day and I learned a lot.
